Invitations keep Gov. Garcia busy

CEBU, Philippines - Following her announcement to run for the Senate in the 2013 elections, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn had been preoccupied attending to several invitations from the different provinces in the country.

Today, Garcia is in Davao City as guest speaker in the assembly of the Liga ng mga Barangay in Region 12.

Region 12 is composed of the provinces of Cotabato, Sarangani, South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat.

Garcia said she will share today with the barangay officials in Region 12 what the Province of Cebu is doing to the barangays here.

In Cebu, barangay officials have been covered with Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) group accident insurance which is now transferred to Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC).

The Province of Cebu has also been extending financial assistance for the improvements of barangay halls, health centers and day care centers.

The Capitol has also been distributing multicab to each barangay.

Garcia said she will also share about the Enhanced Green and Wholesome Environment that Nurtures (eGWEN) program up to the barangay level.

Garcia said she will pay a courtesy call on Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

Quiboloy is the founder and leader of the Philippine-based Restorationist Christian Church, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name, Inc. and has made claims that he is the “Appointed Son of God”.

From Davao City, Garcia will fly to Manila for an important meeting. The Governor refused to give details of her scheduled meeting in Manila saying she will make the necessary announcement in due time.

Last Tuesday, Garcia was also speaking before the barangay captains in Pangasinan who have their assembly and educational tour in Iloilo City.

Prior to her speaking engagement, Garcia said she had a meeting with Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and shared about their initiatives in forging public-private partnership.

Among the PPP projects in Cebu are the Carmen Bulk Water Project and the development of business process outsourcing complex at IT Park with Filinvest Land.
