CEBU, Philippines - Superintendent Henry Biñas now sits as the police chief of Toledo City replacing Chief Supt. Julian Entoma.
Biñas who received the transfer order last Friday, the same day he was found guilty of harassing a news reporter, said his relief has nothing to do with the case for which he will serve a 10-day suspension.
Biñas received the relief order last April 17 from the Police Regional Office-7 stating that his transfer to the Toledo City Police Station took effect last Friday.
Biñas was the former chief of the Talisay City Police Station. He resigned from his post pending investigation of his administrative case. He was accused of placing his hand on the breast of a female journalist and even allegedly attempted to kiss the reporter on the cheek.
While the investigation was ongoing, Biñas was assigned at the Cebu Provincial Police Office as officer-in-charge of the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch.
With Biñas now in Toledo City, Entoma will be the new Deputy Provincial Director for Operation.
Biñas told The FREEMAN that he will not be changing the plans and programs of Entoma unless necessary.
“In place iyang programs, high-profiled cases solved and so far no robberies sa akong paglingkod,” he said.
Biñas said handling Toledo City is a challenge for him because he will be watching over 38 barangays compared to Talisay City’s 20 barangays.
He added that Toledo City needs mobility in monitoring the area to preempt crimes because it is adjacent to Naga City, now an urbanized city, and with many exit points.
“Sa Talisay dali maka-augment ang taga-Cebu City in case naay alarma pero sa Toledo City pwede pa makatago kay dako man ang mountain area,” he said.
On April 30, Toledo City mayor Aurelio Espinosa will be giving a plaque of appreciation to Entoma for his exemplary performance as former police chief of the city. A formal turn-over will be held at the same time. (FREEMAN)
