Five ex-council members rehired as CH consultants

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Council renewed yesterday the consultancy contract of five former city councilors.

Four of them serve as consultants to Mayor Michael Rama while the other to one of the committees in the City Council. Procopio Fernandez was rehired as consultant on cooperative and livelihood concerns; Edwin Jagmoc as consultant on barangay affairs; Manuel Legaspi on legal and administrative matters and Arsenio Pacaña on tourism and heritage matters all under the office of the mayor.

Former Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president Rengelle Pelayo will also continue serving as consultant of the committee on youth and sports commission. Except for Pelayo who will only receive P9,000 monthly honorarium the four others will be receiving P18,000 monthly compensation.

Jagmoc, Legaspi and Pelayo are possible candidates in the 2013 elections. Jagmoc and Legaspi are reportedly running under the slate of Rama and Councilor Edgardo Labella, who has already announced his intention to run for vice mayor, while Pelayo is being considered by the Bando Osmeña Pundok-Kauswagan (BOPK) of South District Rep. Tomas Osmeña as one of its possible candidates for councilor in the south.– (FREEMAN)
