CEBU, Philippines - Two people died in separate shooting incidents in Compostela and Danao City over the weekend.
The victims were identified as Michael Castro, 20, resident of Barangay Cogon, Compostela and Christian Lao, 33, of Barangay Poblacion, Danao City.
Castro, a member of Crips Gang, was shot dead by two unidentified persons at about 9:00 p.m. Saturday in Cogon, Compostela.
Castro was straddling on his motorcycle while having a conversation with his friend Jovanni Rosal when the two unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants passed by and fired at them.
Rosal escaped unhurt but Castro succumbed to two gunshot wounds in the stomach. He was brought to Danao City District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police Officer 3 Ronald Luna believes that the incident could be related to the victim’s affiliation with the Crips Gang. Few days ago the victim was allegedly involved in a commotion with their rival gang, Bloods.
The police recovered two empty shells for caliber .45 from the crime scene. Meanwhile, Lao also expired at the Danao City District Hospital after he got shot by still unidentified gunman at 2:45 a.m. Sunday.
Lao and three of his friends were having a drinking session along the road when the gunman fired upon him. Lao sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
His companions told the police that the gunman was onboard a motorcycle bearing no plate. – (FREEMAN)
