Tanod hunted for shooting kin

CEBU, Philippines - The police are hunting a barangay tanod in Tejero after he was tagged in the shooting of his relative yesterday dawn.

Nestor Ybañez has gone into hiding after he had shot and injured Gilbert Rosos, 24, at 2:30 a.m. Sunday near the Blessed Sacrament Church.

The victim was riding on his bicycle but had to stop to pick up the battery of his cellular phone which had fallen onto the ground. As the victim got off from his bike, the suspect who was apparently tailing him drive-by and shot him.

Rosos was hit in the right side of his body but managed to jump into the creek. The suspect tried to chase the victim, apparently to finish him off, but was forced to let go and escape upon seeing that the people in the place were already alarmed by his gunfire.

Rosos was rescued by his aunt and some of the residents in Barangay Tejero. He was rushed to Chong Hua Hospital where he is currently recuperating.

The tanod on the other hand escaped and could no longer be found by the responding homicide investigators. Homicide investigators believe that the motive personal because the suspect is allegedly harboring personal grudge against the victim.

The police are already preparing the criminal complaint for frustrated murder against Ybañez. — (FREEMAN)
