CEBU, Philippines - The family of Virginia Sesbreño, who was killed in an ambush in Talisay City last Feb. 1 along with two others, is prepared to offer a reward for those who can help locate and prosecute those behind the ambush.
Lawyer Raul Sesbreño, Virginia’s husband, said his son Peter has P50,000 for those who can help the police and the National Bureau of Investigation.
He said those who will be eligible for the rewards should completely participate in the investigation and prosecution of those involved.
“We are just ensuring that we won’t be wasting money on false information,” Raul said in Cebuano.
Despite the parallel investigation by the police and the NBI-7, the reward money can further entice other people to help, he said.
Raul said he has yet to receive any feedback from the NBI-7 regarding their investigation, adding that he is a bit worried as to whom NBI-7 director Edward Villarata assigned the case.
He said the agent Villarata chose is a relative of someone he previously sued.
Talisay City Police Office chief Supt. Eddie Recamara said they have already identified the assailant and the mastermind behind the attack.
Aside from Virginia, Joshua Young and Soledad Epanto, were also killed in the ambush that occurred a few minutes after they left a failed demolition in Barangay Lawaan 1, 2, and 3.
The police are eyeing the demolition as the motive of the crime
Police added that Raul, who failed to board the vehicle together with his wife, was the supposed target of the attack. (FREEMAN)
