CEBU, Philippines - A man driving a motorcycle was killed while his juvenile passenger was seriously injured after they collided with an unidentified vehicle last Thursday evening along the national highway in Barangay Bahay, Sibonga town.
Police identified the fatality as Monico Natividad, 34, and his passenger as Eugene Solatorio, 14.
Before the collision, PO2 Arnold Frenal said victims were traveling on a Rusi motorcycle with plate number 1004-GK from Barangay Poblacion towards Barangay Bahay.
They were reportedly tailing a trailer truck that later stopped to park beside road, prompting Natividad to swerve left and overtake the truck.
Frenal said the road was dim and Natividad did not immediately notice the approaching vehicle.
“Wala na sila kalikay kay diha na man, apiki na ilikay kay ang trailer nag-ali man,” Frenal said.
A driver of a Ceres bus following the motorcycle said he cannot describe the vehicle but all he saw were the victims thrown off from the motorcycle.
Natividad was thrown a few meters away while Solatorio was dragged together with motorcycle. The unknown vehicle sped off, leaving the victims behind.
Natividad suffered major injuries and died while Solatorio was taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
Sibonga police are still conducting a follow-up investigation to locate the vehicle and the driver. (FREEMAN)
