CEBU, Philippines - Around 350 guests are expected to join the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo Southern Escapade which will start today.
Chai Ompoc, Tourism staff of the Provincial Capitol, said that most of the guests joining the three-day tour are foreigners from France, Germany, and Canada. There are also balikbayans from Las Vegas, Nevada joining them.
Elizabeth “Betsy” Quisumbing, mother of Rep. Luigi Quisumbing and Mariquita Salimbangon-Yeung are again joining the escapade.
Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia will lead the guests who will start their southern tour at 8:30 am today. Minglanilla will be the first stop of the 21 localities that will be visited in the entire caravan.
The group will then visit Naga City, the towns of Sibonga, Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, and Boljoon as part of the itinerary for today.
Tomorrow, they will visit the towns of Oslob, Santander, Samboan, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Alegria, and Badian, then Moalboal, Alcantara, Ronda, Dumanjug, Barili, Carcar City, and Talisay City on Friday.
The balikbayans who are joining are those who recently arrived in Cebu for the Sinulog festivities and took part of the most requested tourism package tour in Cebu.
Balikbayans who have already visited here, tagged along with them several guests who are first timers in the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo.
Suroy-Suroy Sugbo is a pioneering tourism project that opens the municipalities and component cities of Cebu province as places worthy to visit.
Suroy-Suroy Sugbo is Garcia’s biggest step in tourism and business that has since expanded into five different packages: Southern Heritage Trail, Northern Escapade, Urban Adventure, Discover Enchanting Camotes, and Explore the Midwest.
Under the program, the tourist’s attractions, heritage sites, and culture of the respective towns are showed to the tourists. – (FREEMAN)
