Last month for Pasada cards distribution

CEBU, Philippines - Around 70 percent or about 8,000 jeepney drivers/operators in Central Visayas have availed of the Pantawid Pasada cards as of yesterday. LTO-7 Director Raul Aguilos said there are a total of 11,695 intended beneficiaries of the cards.

The Department of Energy is giving those who are yet to claim the card until end of this month to do so. In a statement, DOE is reminding all public utility jeepney franchise holders with valid registrations to claim their Pantawid Pasada Cards on or before November 30, 2011.

The cards may be claimed at the nearest Regional and District offices of LTO.

DOE said the failure of the intended beneficiaries to claim their cards by the end of this month is presumed a waiver of their claim over the cards and enjoyment of the corresponding entitlements.

DOE also reiterated that the Pantawid Pasada Cards are given out to beneficiaries and at no cost.

The Pantawid Pasada Program is an interim measure of the government to cushion the impact of high fuel prices specifically among the public utility jeepneys. The said card is pre-loaded with P1,050, the amount each card contains under the government’s Public Transport Assistance Program. – (FREEMAN)
