CEBU, Philippines - A woman who is believed to be an illegal drug pusher was shot dead by two men on a motorcycle in Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City last Saturday noon.
Police said involvement in illegal drugs might have triggered the assailants to kill Evelyn Sabandal, 33.
SPO1 Allan Pantaleon, investigator of the Lapu-Lapu Homicide Section, said the assailants arrived and approached the victim who was outside her house at 12 noon.
The assailants allegedly told the victim that they would buy shabu from her but the victim was allegedly sarcastic and asked the suspects why they would buy illegal drugs from her when both of them are drug pushers. Pantaleon said this may have irked the assailants.
One of the assailants immediately pulled out a gun, pointed it to the victim’s forehead and shot her.
The victim sprawled to the ground already dead, while the assailants sped off.
Responding policemen were no longer able to catch up with them.
Police suspect that the attacker used a caliber .38 revolver in shooting the victim because they did not recover any slug from the crime scene.
Pantaleon said they were able to identify one of the assailants as a certain “Elong” who is believed to be an acquaintance of the victim.
The police are trying to fully identify the suspects for the filing of appropriate charges. — (FREEMAN)
