Anti-sextortion toolkit up for dissemination

CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Women Judges Association will disseminate an anti-sextortion toolkit during a seminar-workshop to be held tomorrow at the Robinland, North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

The anti-sextortion toolkit, according to the PWJA, is a step-by-step guide on how to deal with cases of sextortion.

Sextortion is the term used to describe the abuse of power or authority to extract sex or for sexual exploitation.

The anti-sextortion toolkit was developed by the PWJA in coordination with the International Association of Women Judges with the support of the MDG3 Fund of Netherlands.

Barangay officials, representatives from the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk of the Philippine National Police, teachers, public prosecutors, public attorneys, selected government and non-governmental organizations will attend the activity.

PWJA said the event is aimed at disseminating awareness of sextortion so the public will be properly equipped on how to deal with it.

The seminar-workshop is co-sponsored by the Mandaue City government and Cebu sixth district Rep. Luigi Quisumbing. —(FREEMAN)
