CEBU, Philippines - A man was found dead with at least four gunshot wounds on his body in sitio Mansanitas, Barangay Inayawan early yesterday morning.
The victim was identified as Lewin Gadiano Paraiso, of legal age, married, a resident of sitio Tunob-Lapok in the same barangay. He was jobless.
Information gathered by the police showed that the victim was walking along the road at almost 5am when two unidentified persons shot him several times before fleeing.
Barangay tanods Danilo Manalo, Rosendo Canoy and Cecilio Gomez found the victim sprawled on the ground bloodied and took him to the Cebu City Medical Center.
A few minutes later, however, the victim was declared dead. He succumbed to gunshot wounds on his waistline, stomach, left thigh, and on his back.
Crime Scene Investigation Unit did not recover any evidence from the crime scene. The city police homicide section led by SPO3 Rey Cuyos conducted ocular investigation in the area but no one has come forward to shed light on the incident.
Meanwhile, a coal miner was found dead at a secluded area in Sitio Katambisan, Barangay Mantalungon, Dalaguete.
The miner was identified as Rene Endomo, 19, a native of Tayasan, Negros Oriental and a temporary resident of Sitio Grand China, Barangay Mantalungon. He also worked at a coal mine in Argao town.
It was a certain Ritcheliu Betcher who saw Endomo’s body in a pool of blood at a grassy area in Sitio Katambisan. Betcher was walking early morning yesterday when he stumbled upon Endomo’s body.
SPO1 Veronico Sentino said investigation is ongoing to determine the possible motive of the killing, as well as the assailants. Endomo was known to be a silent type of person and seldom mingled with his peers.
Three empty shells and one bullet of caliber .45 pistol, as well as two deformed slugs of an undetermined firearm, were found at the crime scene. — (FREEMAN)
