CEBU, Philippines - A city hall employee in Danao City was shot dead while heading home from a fair “perya” in Barangay Poblacion.
Jose Mata, 46, of Barangay Tabok, succumbed to a gunshot wound on his chest. He was taken to the Danao District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the physician.
Prior to the incident, police said Mata was watching a color game at the fair before he decided to go home about 10:50 in the evening.
He was walking along Ralota St. when the suspect, Ian Laguna, of Barangay Looc arrived and shot him pointblank.
Police said they are now conducting a background check on the victim to establish the motive of the crime.
Meanwhile, personal grudge drove two brothers in Barangay Bayabas to kill their neighbor who was allegedly involved in the killing of their other sibling two years ago.
Farmer Roel Tañana, 25, succumbed to gunshot wounds aside from the hack wound in different parts of his body. He did not make it to the Danao District Hospital.
Reneboy Hermoso and his brother Segundino, were allegedly armed with a knife and a pistol when they killed Tañana. Both are now the subjectsof a manhunt operation. (FREEMAN)
