CEBU, Philippines - A couple lost more than P60,000 worth of valuables and cash after an unidentified burglar broke into their house Wednesday morning in Barangay Atabay, Alcoy.
Victims Sue Marie Dietrich, 36 and her German national husband Thomas Dietrich, 42 were sleeping when the unidentified person entered their room and took their belongings.
Both lost their Acer laptop worth P40,000; two Samsung cellular phones worth P12,000; two Nokia cellular phones worth P10,000; P1,600 cash and a backpack containing the passport of Thomas.
The burglar gained entrance by climbing the perimeter fence of the house and went directly to the sliding doors at the back portion of the house.
The burglar then entered the room of the couple where the items were placed.
Police Officer 2 Raul Medez said the couple was still sleeping when the burglar entered their room.
“Nahinanok gyud sila bisan gamay wa gyud sila kabantay,” Medez said.
It was about 6:00 in the morning when the victims noticed that their belongings were gone.
The couple said they have been staying in the said place for six years and it was the first time that the incident happened.
“Naanad na man pud kuno na sila nga dili mang-lock sa pultahan kay nisalig ra lagi,” Medez said.
Police said the burglary had no signs of forced entry. It is now being investigated. (FREEMAN)
