Two HS students held for "raping" 17-year-old neighbor

CEBU, Philippines - Two high school students are now in the custody of Medellin Police after they were tagged as suspects in raping a 17-year-old girl in Sitio Martinez, Barangay Camputatan Sur, Medellin Tuesday morning.

The two 16-year-old fourth year high school students from St. Paul School of Medellin in Barangay Poblacion were invited for police interrogation.

Both minors who are also neighbors of the victim were held temporarily while the victim was taken to the pink room of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for medical examination.

The victim was allegedly raped by the suspects at a dark portion of a sugarcane field in the said barangay while she was drunk and unconscious.

The victim along with her friend Jean Rose Edanan, allegedly had a drinking session with the suspects while reportedly attending a benefit dance nearby prior to the incident.

A moment later, the victim who was already drunk decided to urinate in the sugarcane field and was accompanied by Edanan but when they arrived, she was vomiting.

This allegedly prompted Edanan to leave her and proceed to the disco area about a few meters away from where she was.

She further alleged that the two suspects were the last persons she saw beside her before she went blank.

Police Officer 2 Roland Robin said that minutes later when the victim woke up, she noticed that her short pants and undergarments were taken off and saw the suspects sitting in front of her while she was still lying on the ground.

At this point, Edanan arrived and saw the victim crying. She asked one of the suspects about what happened but he only replied, “ambot nikalit lang siya ug hilak.”

About noontime, the father of the victim accompanied her to the police station upon learning about the incident.

One of the suspects was still attending his morning class when police arrived and brought him to the police station accompanied by his class adviser Mrs. Dina Cenit while the other suspect was arrested at his house.

Appropriate charges will be filed against the two if proven liable of the crime. — (FREEMAN)
