CEBU, Philippines - Four counts of rape, child abuse and acts of lasciviousness in relation to Republic Act 7610 will be filed on Monday before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Naga City against a 27-year-old self-confessed homosexual for allegedly molesting five minors.
The suspect was arrested by Balirong barangay tanod Arturo Lapusque at the Naga Police Station about 1 p.m. yesterday following complaints by the minors who are neighbors of the suspect.
Lapusque tried to arrest the suspect in his house earlier that day but instead of surrendering, the latter accused him of being a burglar and hurriedly fled.
The suspect went to the police station where Lapusque arrested him.
“Ingon na ang tanod nga dakpon niya kay mao to daghan nang estorya, wala man pud siya ingon magpa-blotter kay matud pa niya gikawatan kuno sila,” said PO2 Leopoldo Palconit, Naga chief investigator.
The minors alleged that they were sexually abused by the suspect in separate incidents. Three of them were reportedly molested last April while, the two others last June.
However, they failed to tell their parents after the suspect allegedly threatened them with a revolver.
Barangay social worker Betty Ababan took the victims to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for medical examination after one of the victims told his parents about the incident.
One of the victims was confirmed positive of a Sexually Transmitted Disease based on his medical certificate.
Palconit said the arrest was delayed because the suspect was seldom seen in his house.
“Dili na siya magpundo kay kahibaw tingali nga dakpunon adto na siya sa iyang giabangan sa Mandaue,” Palconit said.
The revolver of the suspect was also turned over by Lapusque.
The police said they are now planning to include grave oral defamation and grave threats to the suspect’s charges. — (FREEMAN)
