Diskwento Caravan goes to Consolacion

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Trade and Industry has continued implementing its Diskwento Caravan in Cebu to bring cheaper goods to more consumers.

The caravan goes to Consolacion’s Public Terminal with Mayor Teresa Alegado and sixth district Rep. Gabriel Luis Quisumbing.

At least 11 companies have participated in the event.

These companies are Julie’s Bakeshop, Virginia Foods, Inc., Unilab, VMAT, Liwayway Marketing, Cebu Easy General Services, Dranix Distributors, Inc., La Nueva Supermart and Pharmacy, National Bookstore and Unitop-Lapu-Lapu.

The National Food Authority also joined the caravan.

The Diskwento Caravan was launched as a non-wage benefit to employees in this time when the country experiences economic difficulty.

Headed by the DTI and the Department of Labor and Employment, it is the government’s response to the demand for wage increase because of the increasing prices in basic commodities.

The DTI has already conducted Diskwento Caravans in Dalaguete and Argao towns last month. — THE FREEMAN
