CEBU, Philippines - An errand boy is in hot water after he stole the money and jewelry of his employers in Barangay Botigues, Banta-yan.
The employers, spouses Armando and Maria Chuatico, said the suspect, Rizalino “Jun-jun” Bayon-on, 22, stole P25,000 worth of jewelry and at least P7,000 cash from their sari-sari store early morning last Friday. The store is located near the couple’s residence.
Maria said she was about to open the store when she noticed that the padlock had already been broken. Inside, the drawers have reportedly been opened. The jewelry was reportedly kept in the drawers.
PO2 Lou Susvilla said that investigation into the incident also revealed that Bayon-on also allegedly stole the pump boat of a certain Armando Aloria, a resident of the same barangay.
“So bale duha ni ka kawat… diha man ni siyay ka inom unya nawala sa ni siya ug kalit, unya nakit-an nga nagdala og gasoline,” Susvilla said. He said it is most probable that Bayon-on used the gasoline to fuel Aloria’s pump boat, which he used to escape after taking away the cash and jewelry from the Chuaticos.
Later that day, the mother of the suspect, Lorenda Bayon-on returned the stolen jewelry to the barangay officials who forwarded the same to the police. The money, however, was not among the returned items.
“Wala man pud gi-surender sa inahan ang anak,” Susvilla added. The mother reportedly did not share any information about her son.
Armando confirmed that the recovered jewelry was complete, but they are still pressing charges against Ba-yon-on.
Meanwhile, the owner of the stolen pump boat said he will no longer file a case after his boat was recovered later in Sitio Sayaw,Barangay Bantigue.
The police are currently pursuing Bayon-on. (FREEMAN)
