CEBU, Philippines - It is a vehicle-free Osmeña Blvd. today as part of the “Road Revolution,” an environmental advocacy for an eco-friendly and energy-efficient commuting system like bicycles.
Because the whole stretch from the Provincial Capitol Building to the Plaza Independencia will be closed to motorized vehicles from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, a traffic re-routing is implemented by the Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom).
The Road Revolution advocates for Cebuanos to “revitalize street culture” by allowing people to walk, run and ride their bicycles and “enjoy the beauty” of a road free of pollution and traffic jam.
The event is spearheaded by the Law of Nature Foundation, which calls on government to institutionalize this to discourage the use of car in certain areas in Cebu City.
In line with this, vehicles, especially passenger jeepneys, are in for a re-routing starting dawn today.
