CEBU, Philippines - Despite the discrepancy of the boundary survey and technical descriptions, the City Council committee on housing recommended to the Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor (DWUP) to extend assistance to the homeowners association which is applying to declare their area as socialized housing site.
Councilor Alvin Dizon, in his committee report, said the lot occupied by the Tejero Blessed Community Homeowners Association, is a public land and the members are applying for presidential proclamation to declare the area a socialized housing site.
There are 91 members of the urban poor, who are currently living in Sitio Laurente at the back of the Blessed Sacrament Parish Church. At present, they are in process of complying with the requirements for the presidential proclamation.
The DWUP already conducted an investigation in the area to determine whether the applicants are qualified as socialized housing beneficiaries.
It is also in the process of identifying the boundaries of the lot the residents want to be proclaimed as socialized housing site because there are discrepancies between the boundary survey and the technical descriptions of the lots occupied by the Blessed Sacrament Parish Church and the Queensland Motel.
Dizon said the Tejero Barangay Council has expressed no objection to the application of the homeowners association. (FREEMAN)
