CEBU, Philippines - A farm caretaker was found dead with multiple stab wounds in his body at barangay Tulang, Argao last Thursday morning.
Bernard Bautista, who lived with farm owner Jaime Alvarracin, died of stab wounds in his chin, stomach and neck.
His assailant is still unknown.
Alvarracin claimed that on Wednesday evening, Bautista went home drunk asking him if he could sleep in his farmhouse. Alvarracin agreed.
Police said the farmhouse was located few meters away from the house of Alvarracin.
But early morning of the next day, someone saw Bautista lying in a pool of blood, already dead. A curved, long bolo locally known as “Lagarao” was found near his body.
Police have yet to determine the motive of the killing since Bautista had no known enemies.
“Posible nga naagian ra na siya unya gipareglahan,” PO1 Bernard Banogon said.
Bautista arrived in the barangay few months ago and pleaded Alvarracin to let him stay as caretaker of his farm.
Banogon said they will conduct a background check on Bautista to locate his relatives.
Bautista was laid to rest at the Mumpeller Public Cemetery yesterday. (FREEMAN)
