CEBU, Philippines - The suspect who allegedly stabbed his live-in partner after he was caught raping her daughter in Barangay Cambuhawe, Balamban town surrendered to police Sunday evening.
Police said they received information that the suspect, Romel Climaco, 31, was about to surrender from his neighbor, a certain Rogelio Tevez.
Climaco, a trisikad driver and native of Magsaysay St., Barangay Poblacion, Toledo City, first introduced himself to police as Vicente Alegato but later confessed his real name during interrogation.
Based on police investigation, on Saturday, about 4 a.m., the suspect allegedly went home drunk in Barangay Cambuhawe, he and his live-in partner live together with her 11-year-old daughter.
When he arrived, Climaco allegedly saw the two victims sleeping together and started raping the girl. When his live-in partner woke up, she saw the suspect raping her daughter but he reportedly ran to the kitchen, took a knife and started stabbing the older victim.
Climaco’s live-in partner sustained several stab wounds in her both arms for trying to parry the suspect’s attacks.
Due to anger, Climaco allegedly imprisoned the two victims inside the house but when he fall asleep, the two slowly sneaked outside and ran towards the national highway of Barangay Cansumoroy.
Hermano Baron, driver of van-for-hire bound for Cebu City, saw the victims and rushed them to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Baron also reported the incident to the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, who then called Balamban Police Station and informed them of the incident.
Climaco is now detained at Balamban police stockade while waiting for appropriate charges to be filed against him in court. (FREEMAN)
