Rama urges businessmen to support waste segregation

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has asked all business establishments in the downtown area to cooperate in the city government’s campaign for the proper disposal of garbage.

Rama made his personal request to the representatives of the various establishments during his meeting with them at the City Hall Legislative Building yesterday.

Rama and the officials of the Department of Public Services briefed the representatives of the various establishments about the city’s strict implementation of the “no segregation, no collection” policy.

The representatives of various establishments assured Rama of their support as they agreed to the Mayor’s slogan, “Together we make things happen.”

Rama admitted that the city is facing problem in the disposal of garbage because there are still people who refuse to cooperate.

According to Rama, the members of the Barangay Environmental Officers are having difficulty in the implementation of the law because most violators are riding vehicles.

DPS trucks are no longer collecting unsegregated wastes. The city government has scheduled Monday, Wednesday and Friday to collection biodegradable wastes while the non-biodegradable wastes will be collected on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. (FREEMAN)
