CEBU, Philippines - A 17-year-old high school student and his cousin were hacked, their hands and necks tied with a packaging tape, and their bodies placed inside two sacks before they were thrown at a roadside in Sitio Tupas, Barangay Taptap, Cebu City last Thursday.
Jennifer Bonghanoy, 25, said she heard a voice calling for help about 40 meters away from their house.
“Part tabang! Part tabang! (Help, help!),” was what she heard. She went to her nearest neighbor, Danny Bontuyan, who went out to check. It was Bontuyan who saw the two men inside the sacks.
SPO1 Jodito Llena of the Barangay Police Outpost of Barangay Taptap immediately took both men out of the sacks to check whether they were still alive.
Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) personnel also rushed to the scene but the two were already dead. The victims were identified as Glenn Perez Parawan, 32, married and his 17-year-old cousin, a high school student.
The two lived in Sitio Pagutlan, Barangay Maslog, Danao City. They were identified at the Saint Francis Funeral Homes by Niña Jenny Yray Parawan.
Glenn had hack wounds on his nape and at the back of his head while his cousin also had wounds on his face and near his mouth. Their necks were tied with a packaging tape and their hands tied together.
Feliflor Arias, 30, a neighbor of the two, said she saw both victims last Thursday but she has no clue as to why they were killed.
