Probe result on substandard brgy projects out soon

CEBU, Philippines - The four-man committee tasked to investigate the alleged irregularities in the implementation of barangay projects will have until tomorrow to release its findings.

This after Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama ordered them to submit their report within the week. Considering that there are only three working days this week because of the holidays, the committee is expected to come up their findings already tomorrow.

Lawyer Dominic Diño, the committee’s secretariat, said they were already reminded by Rama to finish the investigation.

Diño however said they are already finalizing the draft of the final report as they have already closed the investigation last week.

The members of the committee earlier said that they are inclined to endorse the case before the Office of the Ombudsman for a more thorough investigation.

According to the committee, there are areas that need to be looked into more deeply which only the anti-graft office has the capability to do it.

The committee said that the Office of the Ombudsman would be the proper venue to determine if personalities involved are liable of whichever charge is applicable to them.

The result of the case including all documents they have obtained will be turned over to the Ombudsman.

Diño said that the immediate solution to the problem is to have all the substandard projects rectified which the contractor, E.M. Arante, have started complying.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
