CEBU, Philippines - Thirty-nine scholars of the Department of Science and Technology who graduated with honors got additional award from the agency for their academic excellence.The DOST scholars were among those who got top honors when they graduated this year. Two of them graduated summa cum laude, 10 as magna cum laude and 27 were cum laude.
Michael Angelo Joaquin and Francis Tallo, both from the University of San Carlos (USC) graduated as cum laude.
Those who got the magna cum laude honors are Aimee Tan from Cebu Institute of Technology University (CITU); Arlie Catherine Acabal, Syrel Dezin Baliog and Ferlita Coronado from Negros Oriental State University (NORSU); Maise Kristine Isobelle Cahambing, Izzy Martin Maxino and Jonathan Andro Tan from Silliman University (SU); Michelle Gudito from the University of the Philippines Cebu Campus (UPCC); and Michael Lawrence Castañares and Juan Carlos Graciosa from USC.
The 27 who got cum laude honors are Sandra Catoc, Maria April del Pilar, Ella Paulina Lipaopao and Louie Joy Rosit from Bohol Island State University; Rowena Alipar, Ligemm Mae Del Castillo, Julie Ann Dungog, Amy Tan Irish Tanilon and Louella Villamora from CITU; Jessa Sumayang from Cebu Normal University; Maria Alma Chua from Cebu Technological University; Liezel Agor and Hector Cornea from NORSU; Algrace Bellingan, Quincy Zy-Ray Carba and Jane Manangquil from SU; Razel Paldo from UPCC; Maria Wilvena Añora, June Alice Besinga, Faith Allena Biong-cog, Karl Patrick Ermac, Jessa Mae Gudio, Jedelyn Mistula, Charlie Villarba and Gena liza Ygot from USC.
They received their medal for excellence from the DOST during the “Scholars Tribute” held at the DOST-7 conference room last April 7.
The DOST scholarship is part of the program of the national government to support the poor but deserving youth who wished to pursue careers related to science and technology. (FREEMAN)
