PRO-7 among country's top police headquarters

CEBU, Philippines -  An official of Camp Crame lauded Police Regional Office-7 for being among the top three regional police headquarters nationwide in terms of operations and accomplishments.

Chief Supt. Danilo Constantino, Directorate for Operations of the national headquarters, was impressed with PRO-7 when he conducted an evaluation and assessment at the headquarters last Friday.

“Laging nasa top ang PRO-7 in terms of accomplishments. Performer ang PRO-7, hindi nagpapahuli sa lahat ng police offices,” he told reporters yesterday.

PRO-7 presented Constantino with their accomplishments especially their Integrated Patrol System program to which he gave a favorable reaction.

When asked if PRO-7 has something that needs to be improved, the Camp Crame official said the regional headquarters lacks resources, although he added this has been a perennial problem of the Philippine National Police.

Anyway, he said, the local chief executives have been always supportive of the police. PRO-7 regional director, Chief Supt. Ager Ontog agreed, saying in Mandaue City for example, the mayor increased the gasoline allowance of the police from 20 to 30 liters, something that has helped them a lot.

He also cited the recent problem of the Cebu Provincial Police Office’s power bill, which was later solved because the provincial government extended support to them.

“That’s why I directed all provincial directors and city directors at chiefs of police to present their programs well to the mayors para masuportahan,” Ontog said.

Ontog said that as part of their Integrated Patrol System, they will operate based on intelligence and knowledge of the situation.

“Kaya nga may goal-setting under Integrated Patrol System. We will concentrate our resources kung saan ‘yung problematic areas,” the PRO-7 director said.  (FREEMAN)
