CEBU, Philippines - A businesswoman whose family operates the Manto Memorial College in Danao City was shot dead by unidentified person outside her house in Barangay Poblacion, Danao Monday evening.
Jean Manto, 33, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the body. She was rushed by her husband Joseph Manto and five-year-old daughter to Danao City District Hospital but she was declared dead on arrival.
The victim together with her husband and daughter had just arrived in their house when the incident happened. In fact, she was still inside the car together with her daughter while her husband was at the gate of their house to ring the doorbell for their helpers to open the gate for them.
The gunman went to the driver’s side and started pumping bullets into the car hitting Jean who was seated at the passenger seat in front.
The assailant, armed with a caliber .45 pistol, escaped on board a waiting motorcycle. According to the witnesses, the gunman and his companion were seen waiting outside the house of the victim.
Police Officer 2 Charisma Villagonzales said they are still conducting investigation to determine the motive behind the killing. One of the angles being looked into is business rivalry. –(FREEMAN)
