CEBU, Philippines - A fisherman’s dead body was found floating in the seawaters of Saac 2, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City at around 8 a.m. yesterday after he went missing on April 7 when the giant waves wrecked his fishing boat.

According to PO2 Carlos Barluado, investigator of the Homicide Section of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, a fisherman found the lifeless body of Diaz floating in the seawaters off Barangay Mactan.

Fortunato Casida, cousin of Diaz, told police that on April 7, the victim with some companions went fishing in the seawaters off Barangay Mactan early in the morning. However, while they were in the sea, big waves hit their boat causing Diaz to fall in the water. His companions tried to save him but the huge waves carried him away.

Barluado said that when the victim’s body was found, his skin was fill of abrasions due to the long exposure in the water and heat of the sun. The body was bloated and was already in decomposing state.
