Korean university donates computers to TESDA for Medellin training center

CEBU, Philippines - The Wonkwang Health Science University in Korea will be donating more than 20 computer units with tables and chairs and three servers to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for IT training at the Curva Training Center in Curva, Medellin town.

A memorandum of understanding was signed yesterday between Wongwang president Kim In Jong and Cebu fourth district Rep. Benhur Salimbangon witnessed by TESDA-7 director Rosanna Urdaneta.

Aside from the donation, Wonkwang will also provide repair services of the donated equipment.

Salimbangon established the Curva Training Center, also known as Martin Salimbangon Training Center, in honor of his father who was a former barangay captain of Curva.

He thanked the university and TESDA for choosing the training center as recipient of the computer facilities.

For his part, Kim assured TESDA and Salimbangon to hire qualified trainees from the center to work in Korea.

The computer literacy program will also allow students to learn Korean language, according to Urdaneta.

Salimbangon said students in other places in the fourth district who cannot afford to go to college can also enroll in vocational courses at the center. — (FREEMAN)
