Woman, 68, found dead in Carcar

CEBU, Philippines - A 68-year-old men-tally ill grandmother who went missing more than two weeks ago was found dead yesterday in Carcar City.

The decomposing body of Conchita Garcia was found 500 meters away from Guadalupe Bridge by Erwin Dias and Arlo Sinamin who were there gathering grass for their cattle.

Inspector Christopher Castro of the Carcar Police Station responded to the alarm and found the body which was already in an advanced state of decomposition.

Garcia reportedly left the house of her daughter more than two weeks ago. Luzviminda Aldava, Garcia’s daughter, told the police that she did not bother to report her missing mother because she was already used to it.

According to Aldava, her mother would normally leave their house for two to three weeks before coming back. She would either stay with relatives or would just walk around the barangay until she gets tired and would eventually return home.

Initial police investigation shows that Garcia might have suffered from epilepsy attack while walking along the creek resulting to her death. – Ryan Christopher J. Sorote/FPL (THE FREEMAN)
