Comar's recall upsets Rama

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama is upset about the recall of Supt. Aderson Comar, his personal choice as city fire marshal, and the reinstatement of Supt. Esmael Codilla.

Codilla reassumed his post as city fire marshal after Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo revoked all appointments made starting August 17 because it does not have his approval and therefore a violation of the Republic Act 9514 otherwise known as the Fire Code of the Philippines.

Rama vowed to protest Robredo’s order before the Office of the President saying that it was unfair for local chief executives like him who is happy with the performance of his new fire marshal.

Rama said he will write to President Benigno Aquino III to tell him about Robredo’s action and asked to stop its implementation. The Mayor said such action should be re-examined as it might jeopardize the operation of the city.

Rama said he was satisfied with Comar’s performance. “The Secretary has been very insensitive,” Rama said.

“Comar has my full trust and confidence. Is it not possible for them to give exemption?” he added.

Rama said Comar was doing fine but was suddenly distracted by the order.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
