CEBU, Philippines - More than 3,000 senior citizens from the 27 barangays in Mandaue City will gather today at the Mandaue City Sports Complex for their year-end evaluation and Christmas gathering.
Mayor Jonas Cortes is guest speaker in today's gathering of senior citizens and he is expected to announce some plans and programs for next year that are geared towards the welfare of senior citizens in Mandaue City.
Councilor Jefferson Ceniza, the chairman of the city council committee on social services, will also deliver a speech.
He is also expected to announce the pending proposals at the council that are advantageous to senior citizens.
Senior citizens during the mid-year assembly this year received two and a half kilos of rice each from the city.
In today's year-end evaluation, Bienvenido Gahi, president of the Federation of Senior Citizens of Mandaue City, is also expected to report on the programs undertaken by senior citizens this year and also programs to be implemented next year. — THE FREEMAN
