CEBU, Philippines - Seven people were charged in court for allegedly stealing the bag of the fiancé of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia’s nephew.
Lo Oliver Garcia, 32, on behalf of his fiancé Analou Reyes filed the case for theft against Roel Aliviado, Philip Medel Jr., Ronald Asegurado, Ricardo Aguanta, Jonie Tan, Laurence Esmoni and Ariel Alcoriza all residents of Poblacion Asturias.
Assistant provincial prosecutor Petronio Elesterio found probable cause to indict the suspects of the case and recommended a bail of P32,000 each for their temporary liberty.
Garcia said they attended a Christmas party on December 19 in Asturias where his fiancé was hired as party organizer by Vice Mayor Joel Dumdum for his company.
Garcia said he watched for his fiancé’s bag which was placed on the table. However, when he left the bag for a while the suspects got the chance to steal it. The bag contains an Iphone worth P50,000; digital camera worth P21,000; cash worth P15,000; blackberry worth P32,000, another cell phone worth P2,000 and a wallet containing P15,000.
The suspects however were arrested in a hot pursuit operation which led to the recovery of the bag. But, the digital camera, cash amounting to P30,000 and cell phones were no longer recovered. — (THE FREEMAN)
