CEBU, Philippines – A security guard was found dead inside a vehicle parked at the basement area of the Lexmark building at the Cebu Business Park, Cebu City at about 4:20 Wednesday afternoon.
Orlando Lastomen, 31, a resident of 109-A Cabantan St., barangay Luz and a native of barangay Tabunok, Sogod, Cebu allegedly shot himself using a 9mm pistol.
Lastomen had a gunshot wound in the left part of his chest, which the police believed caused his death.
His colleague, Marlon Mesina, was manning his post at the entrance of the establishment when he heard a burst of gunfire. He ignored it and continued watching and recording the vehicles that entered the basement.
Mesina later received a call through his hand-held radio from their security officer, Ramil Dionco, who asked him to locate Lastomen who was supposed to pick up a client at the Velez Hospital.
Upon reaching the blue Toyota Fortuner bearing plate number YEV 297, Mesina saw Lastomen through the slightly tinted window. He knocked on the door several times but there was no response. With the assistance of security guard Jonathan Encila, they opened the vehicle and saw Lastomen in a pool of blood.
