CEBU, Philippines – Cebu City Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young has advised Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President John Philip Po to study and work hard as ex-officio member of the City Council.
Po will formally join the council's session this morning together with the other ex-officio member, Association of Barangay Councils President Michael Ralota.
Ralota and Po yesterday went to see Young where they were briefed on the procedures of the session.
Young said he sees no problem with Ralota considering that he is already familiar with the parliamentary procedures being the presiding officer of the barangay council.
"Captain Ralota has two feet on the ground because he is a barangay captain," Young said. However, Young told Po to work and study hard especially that his predecessor has been very diligent and hard working in her legislative work.
"Grabe si Rengelle kay kugihan kaayo that is why she earns the respect of her colleagues in the council. Po has to work hard," Young said.
Before they will be allowed to formally join today's session, the two will have to present their official communication that they are duly elected president of their respective leagues.
Ralota and Po are expected to deliver privilege speeches. The former replaced former Guadalupe barangay captain Eugenio Faelnar while Po replaced Buhisan SK chairperson Rengelle Pelayo.
The city council is composed of 18 members including the two ex-officio members. (FREEMAN)
