Rep. Durano is grumbling again

CEBU, Philippines – Cebu Fifth District Rep. Ramon "Red" Durano VI is grumbling again about the political situation in Compostela town.

"Grabe na gayud kaayo ang problema sa lungsod sa Compostela, ang katawhan maoy nasakripisyo ug walay mga proyekto nga napatuman," Durano, in an interview with The FREEMAN, said.

Durano said the functions Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG-7) director Pedro Noval use as acting mayor of the town are limited because of some restrictions.

He said Noval uses the budget approved last year and that he cannot implement programs and projects that would improve the delivery of basic services to residents.

It has been exactly five months since the elections and Durano hopes Quino and the other newly elected officials would be able to assume office in next to no time, adding that "amo lang gisunod ang hustong proseso para wala tay mga problema nga atubangon."

Durano said residents, worried about the present situation, want an early solution to the problem besetting the town.

Durano has assured residents a solution is being worked out.

Defeated reelectionist mayor Ritchie Wagas had lodged a petition with the Commission on Elections requesting the Comelec to annul the proclamation of Quino as elected mayor.

Aside from Quino, the vice mayor and eight councilors have been prevented from assuming into office until now. (FREEMAN)
