Mother has son and friends arrested for sniffing shabu

CEBU, Philippines – A woman, fed up with her son's addiction to drugs, had him and his companions arrested by the police.

Edmundo Sanchez, 36; Ranillo Cabañero, 30, and Beldran Langamen, 38, are facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act in the Regional Trial Court.

Marlon Durano Andales was charged with violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 for possession 0.02 gram of alleged shabu.

Prosecutor II Raul Cristoria had recommended Sanchez, Cabañero and Langamen a bail of P40,000 each for their temporary liberty while the recommended bail for Andales was set at P200,000.

Cristoria elevated the case to the court based on the evidence presented and statements of the arresting officers.

In a joint affidavit of SPO1 Vicente Espenido, Jr., PO3 Reynold Malazarte, and PO3 Tremaine Sotto assigned to the Waterfront police station stated that on November 3, 2010 at about 12:00 p.m. Marlon's mother Josefina Durano told the police about the frequent use of illegal drugs by his son and his friends.

Police said Josefina was to call the police again if she catches her son and his friends abusing drugs again in his room and lead the police to that room.

Espinido gave his mobile number to Josefina.

Moments later, Espinido's phone rang.
