CEBU, Philippines – The Naval Force Central (NAVFORCEN) will conduct "Exercise Pagsasama 2010" in Cebu, Iloilo, and the Visayan Sea tomorrow until Wednesday.
The exercise is the first of its kind to include reservists in the conduct of naval forces' mission particularly in rendering humanitarian assistance and performing disaster response operations.
Ensign Joseph Ison, Public Affairs Officer of NAVFORCEN, said this exercise will enhance the capabilities and interoperability of the Navy and naval reservists.
There will be actual humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations involving Navforcen personnel and naval reservists from 511th Naval Reserve Squadron and 51st Marine Reserve Battalion tomorrow at Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
On Wednesday, the same will be conducted at barangay Calero, Liloan by organic personnel of Navforcen and reservists from Naval Reserve Center, Eastern Visayas and Western Visayas.
On Tuesday, participating ships will depart from Ilo-ilo City for Capt. Veloso Pier in Naval Base Rafael Ramos in barangay Looc, Lapu-Lapu City.
The exercise will culminate at NFC Gymnasium at 11 am on Wednesday with the Flag Officer in Command, Philippine Navy as the guest honor. - with PR (FREEMAN)
