Frasco considers Erap's endorsement a big challenge

CEBU, Philippines – Liloan Mayor Vicente Franco "Duke" Frasco, who has been endorsed by former President Joseph Estrada as the next governor of Cebu province, regards the endorsement as a big challenge, supporters said.

Former Liloan municipal councilor Ferdinand "Cocoy" Jumapao said Estrada's endorsement is based on the mayor's performance as mayor of the town.

Jumapao said Frasco has introduced big changes in the town during his first term.

"Dako na kaayo ug kausaban ang lungsod sa Liloan sa unang tulo ka tuig sa administrasyon ni Mayor Frasco," said Jumapao.

But for him, Frasco should for the time being continue implementing his plans and programs.

Municipal Councilor Francisco Commendador Jr. echoes Jumapao's observations.

Estrada endorsed Frasco during the mayor''s birthday celebration last Saturday where Estrada was one of the distinguished guests. Also at the party was Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Frasco's mother-in-law.

Estrada stood as sponsor when Frasco married Garcia's daughter, Cristina, last year.

Frasco turned 30 last October 27, but opted to celebrate his birthday only last Saturday in time for the inauguration of his P70 million worth of projects.

Estrada said seeing Frasco's projects reminded him of the time he was mayor of San Juan when he was still 31 years old. (FREEMAN)
