CEBU, Philippines - The police in Talisay City has already beefed up security by deploying policemen to the city’s five cemeteries in preparation for the upsurge of people today until Nov. 2.
Supt. Henry Biñas, the city police chief, said as early as today, several of his men will be in all cemeteries.
Each of these five cemeteries — South Memorial Garden in barangay Lawaan 1, Evergreen Memorial Park in barangay San Roque, and the three public cemeteries in barangays Poblacion, Cansojong, and Tanke — will have policemen as well as barangay tanods who will frisk everyone who enters, he said.
Frisking and mandatory inspection of bags are required to ensure that no lethal weapons are brought inside.
Biñas said the Commission on Elections gun ban is still in effect until Nov. 10.
Liquor is also prohibited inside cemeteries, he said.
The police chief said police assistance booths will be put up outside these cemeteries. (THE FREEMAN)
