CEBU, Philippines – Eight men were arrested, three of them caught in the act of injecting Nubain (Nalbuphine Hydrochloride), in two separate police operations in Barangay Kamagayan last Thursday.
Most of the arrested persons were not residents of Kamagayan, which police have been monitoring after they confiscated big volumes of illegal drugs from the area.
In the first operation, those arrested for injecting nubain were identified as Jeffrey Dayola, 17, of Barangay Mambaling and a native of Poblacion, Pinamungajan; Jacinto Rafols, 17, of Barangay Capitol Site; and Lester Dela Peña, 21.
SPO4 Sanrico Jolejole and SPO2 Ronnie Alfafara of the Parian Police Station were conducting an operation against all forms of illegal activities at the interior portion of Kamagayan when they spotted the suspects, in plain view inside an abandoned shanty, injecting a colorless liquid believed to be nubain at past 3 a.m.
In another operation hours later, personnel of the Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the Cebu City Police Office also scoured Kamagayan at around 1 p.m.
This resulted in the arrest of five men whom the police reported to have been inside a "drug den."
The suspects were identified as Edgar Nellas, 51, a resident of Kamagayan; Calo Labra, 18, of Barangay Camputhaw; Elmer Mondejar, 19; Janmar Emporoso, 18; and Joege Ardiente, 18, all residents of Pong-ol, Barangay Sibugay.
Recovered from their possession were five ampules of nubain, five used syringes, five disposable syringes, and eight broken/empty ampules of nubain.
All suspects are now detained while charges for violating City Ordinance 1427, which regulates the use of Nubain, are being prepared against them. (FREEMAN)
