CEBU, Philippines – The Lapu-Lapu City council has given the city police and the Traffic Management System plaques of appreciation for the early solution of the killing of a couple last week.
Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong assisted by City Councilor Rodolfo Potot handed the plaques.
The city council has approved a resolution commending the members of the Lapu-Lapu police and CTS personnel for the early solution of the alleged murder case involving a couple in sitio Yakal, barangay Poblacion September 22.
The resolution states that the killing of couple Eduardo Torreon and his wife Gresilda was immediately solved after the arrest of suspects Allan Dico Mabuyo and Wilson Cabanes.
Copies of the resolution and plaque of appreciation were given to Supt. Virgil Tagyamanon Rales, Inspector Manruf Biongcog Bantog, Inspector Juan Ludovice Capacio, SPO2 Rolito Jumaoas, SPO2 Ernesto Francisco, SPO1 Domiciano Luna Sr., PO3 Dioscoro Arong, PO3 Aldin Dano, PO3 Carlos Narca, PO3 Allan Frederick Pantaleon, FTP PO1Zedie Lagrimas, FTP PO1 Enrique Cepedoza, Noli Lapinid, and Ruther Acabal.
On September 22, Torreon and his wife, a healer were killed in Sitio Yakal, Barangay Poblacion.
Responding policemen headed by Rales and CTMS personnel responded to the shooting and interviewed some witnesses to the crime.
City Traffic Management Section personnel and the police intercepted the driver of the taxi cab used by the killers in their escape.
The alleged killers, identified later as Allan Mabuyo and Wilson Cabanes, got off at sitio Datag, barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City.
"The immediate solution of the killing has once again boosted the moral and reputation of the Lapu-Lapu City Police," the resolution said.
The City Council resolution said the commendable performance shown by the police and CTMS personnel will serve as a good example to other members of the city police and CTMS force for the effective performance of their duties so that trust and confidence from the community most importantly the local and foreign tourist will perpetually be obtained.
