Pink Room opens at SM

CEBU, Philippines – Medical consultations and counseling for breast cancer are now made more accessible to women through yesterday's opening of the "pink room" at the North Wing of SM City Cebu.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club Cebu-Fuente, the pink room is open every Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and will be manned by volunteer-doctors and nurses from the Philippine College of Surgeon.

The pink room also provides a breast feeding station.

Its opening is part of the celebration of the cancer awareness month, which is every October of each year.

Aside from officials of SM City and the Rotary Club Fuente, cancer survivors also attended the opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

As part of their advocacy against cancer, the group stressed that cancer, especially the breast cancer, can be cured if immediately attended to.

Yesterday's event also included a Cebuano documentary about cancer, such as ways of detecting and surviving the disease, hosted by Raki Vega.

They also revealed that breast cancer patients who could not afford treatment may seek the help of the Eduard Aboitiz agency, which is willing to assist them. (FREEMAN)
