Plumber lands in jail for trying to shoot rival

CEBU, Philippines – An employee of the Lapu-Lapu City government landed in jail after he tried to shoot a man who is reportedly wooing the woman he is courting.

Desiderio del Coro, 49, a plumber detained at the city engineer's office, was placed under arrest after he tried to shoot Angelito Pagal, 45, following an argument at an eatery in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City last Friday. The woman they are courting owns the eatery.

Reports had it that Del Coro got irked when the woman was giving Pagal more attention while both men were drinking separately at the eatery evening last Friday. Del Coro allegedly confronted Pagal, which resulted into an argument and subsequently into fistfight.

Del Coro eventually pulled out a .45 pistol, but Pagal's brother, Roger, was quick to grapple for the gun, preventing the shot to hit Pagal. The Pagal brothers then wres-tled together for Del Coro's gun until elements of the Lapu-Lapu City police arrived.

"Kon wala pay police hayan siya gyod ang maunay sa iyang pusil," said PO3 Candido Barinque.

Del Coro is currently detained at Station 3 in Lapu-Lapu City.

Police seized the .45 pistol with six unspent bullets. Barinque said Del Coro could have fired more shots only that an empty shell got stuck on the gun's chamber.

"Pag abot sa mga polis si Angelito na ang nag kupot sa pusil ug iyang gi turn-over diri namo," Barinque said.

The firearm reportedly is licensed, but Del Coro failed to present a permit to carry. (FREEMAN)
