CEBU, Philippines – All jail guards at the Maghaway Detention and Rehabilitation Center (MDRC) in barangay Maghaway,Talisay City have been relieved from their posts following the July 20 escape of a minor who until now is still at large.
Authorities have not stopped looking for Reynald Guanzon, alias Inad/Young Master, 16, since his escape last July 20. Guanzon has been charged with theft.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) 7 has already offered a P13,000 reward to anyone who can give information which would lead to the boy's ar-rest.
Chief Inspector Renante Rubio, the jail's new warden, said his men have gone to the boy's residence at Deca Homes, Minglanilla, but did not find him there.
Guanzon is reportedly from Luzon.
Guanzon escaped from the jail by boring a hole on a wooden shack where he was placed, since minors do not mix with adult prisoners.
Guanzon walked through the first and second gates of the compound undetected. Jail guards had reasoned that the heavy rain that day made the suspect's escape easier.
This is the first case a detainee had escaped from this jail since its opening in 2002 under Supt. Johnson Calub, who was transferred to Manila last month. (FREEMAN)
