CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot and wounded by his neighbor while he was watching television in Barangay Malolos, Barili town Thursday evening.
Alberto Capacite, 42, positively identified the man who shot him as a certain Gildo Basera.
Investigation revealed that Capacite was watching television in the house of his relative Marvin Manguilimutan when Basera and two other unidentified men came along and shot him without any apparent reason.
Witnesses told the police that they heard two gunshots, after which they saw Basera fleeing the house with the two unidentified men.
Capacite was shot in the left thigh and upper left side of his abdomen. He was immediately brought to the Barili District Hospital but was later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for further medical treatment.
Police were able to recover an empty .45 cal. shell from the crime scene.
SPO2 Zaldy Urello, desk officer of the Barili Police Station, said personal grudge is a possible motive behind the shooting.
“Previous days ingon sa pamilya sa biktima nga nagkalalis ni ang maong suspetsado ug ang biktima, apan wala man nisulti ang biktima kabahin sa asa o unsa ang ilang gilalisan,” Urello added.
Police are now conducting a manhunt operation since the victim was able to identify the alleged assailant. (FREEMAN NEWS)
