Another taxi driver killed

CEBU, Philippines – Another taxi driver was killed early yesterday dawn along Upper Tingub road in barangay Tingub, Mandaue City.

Pedestrians found Modesto Geligao, 35, married, of barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion town lifeless and bathed in his own blood inside his rented taxi bearing plate number GXD642.

PO3 Norberto Neri of the Homicide Section yesterday said the taxi was heading towards barangay Canduman.

Geligao sustained a single gunshot wound behind his head, the bullet exiting through his forehead, hitting the windshield.

The police found Geligao’s earnings of P1,750 and his driver's license inside the taxi but Homicide chief P/Insp. Ramil Morpos said robbery could still have been the motive of the crime.

"Murag nakabantay man gud ang taxi driver nga tulison siya busa ni-break ug didto gihunong ang taxi duol sa poste aron mahayagan. Gumikan sa kahadlok sa mga suspect nga mailhan sila human og pusil wa na makahuna-huna sa kuwarta. Diretso na lang og sibat,” Morpos said.

The victim's cadaver was turned over yesterday to Geligao’s brother Rufino.
