CEBU, Philippines – Elements of the Special Operations Group arrested a 27-year-old man who was accused of attempting to rape a 15-year-old girl in Barangay Tisa.
The suspect, Ronald Gaudiano alias Onat, was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Ester Veloso of Regional Trial Court Branch 6. Gaudiano is facing charges for alleged violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation or Discrimination Act.
In an interview with The FREEMAN, SPO1 Jeffrey Diola said they proceeded to Sitio Mansanitas, Barangay Tisa early Sunday morning after receiving a text message from an informant that Gaudiano was at the area.
Diola said Gaudiano was having a drinking spree with some neighbors and relatives when he and his team arrived in Barangay Tisa.
Gaudiano reportedly resisted arrest and his relatives, particularly his uncle Ricardo Gaudiano, allegedly attacked and tried to block Diola from getting near the suspect. This led to a brief struggle, which prompted barangay tanod Christopher Abella to extend help to the SOG.
Diola said he wanted to also arrest Ricardo for obstruction of justice, but the latter eluded arrest. Appropriate charges will be filed against him.Diola said they received information that Gaudiano had victimized other girls in the place, but the victims’ families reportedly refused to file charges.
Gaudiano is currently detained at the Punta Princesa Police Station pending disposition of his case. Another case for resisting arrest will also be filed against him. (THE FREEMAN)
