CEBU, Philippines - A 70-year-old retired police drowned at a beach in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.
Retired SPO4 Rodolfo Reyes Tejano, of barangay Banawa had gone swimming with his three grandchildren at Vaño Beach in barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City when the incident happened.
At around 8:25 a.m., Tejano was found floating along the beach.
He was immediately taken to Mactan City Hospital but was declared dead by the hospital.
The police found no evidence of foul play.
Family members of the victim claimed the resort had no life guards or anyone who could administer first aid to drowning victims.
They said Tejano would still be alive today had there been someone who could have attended to him immediately. - THE FREEMAN
